Zoned Ductless Air Conditioners in Lexington Garrison Colonial Replaces Window ACs

One of our favorite things to do is give a homeowner back their views of the outside world after years of putting up with window air conditioners. In the case of this Lexington split-level colonial, we were able to remove six window ACs and give the homeowners the ability to enjoy the windows all year long!

Lexington homes upgrades to Mitsubishi ductless AC system.

Problem: Six unsightly, inefficient, and noisy window units were blocking the windows and detracting from the home's overall aesthetic while racking up huge electric bills.

Solution: A five zone Mitsubishi ductless split system powered by one outdoor condenser and five wall-mounted heads was installed.

The hidden bonus?

In addition to providing quality air conditioning in the summer months, these folks are going to save a ton of money come winter when this system supplements their existing oil heat.

The energy efficiency of these systems is one of the reasons Mass Save is working with New England utility companies to provide the highest rebates on this type of heating and cooling technology.

Every time we install a system like this for cooling, the homeowner calls us sometime during the following winter to tell us how much lower their heating costs are thanks to the Hyper-Heating heat pump.

Woburn, MA is near Horn Pond, which is the head waters of the Mystic River. As a result, many families, like the one in this split-entry home, live near wet areas and are concerned about humidity and air quality. They started to look for a better solution for both their living room, where the family spent most of their time.

Installing a Ductless Heat Supplement in This Split Level, Cape Style Burlington, MA Home

Over time, our needs change. For our empty-nest homeowners in Burlington, heating and cooling the whole house seemed wasteful AND expensive. Split level homes like this one can also be especially challenging to heat and cool, so creating solutions that allow more customization of temperatures in certain rooms is a blessing. They were looking for a solution that allowed them to have the comfort they yearned for, without having to heat or cool the whole home, and spending money they'd rather use on more enjoyable things.

Arlington, MA Home Replaced Window ACs to Mitsubishi Ductless Mini Split AC

Arlington is adjacent to Cambridge and Charlestown and features many charming cape style homes like this one. Many of these homes were built without central air conditioning, and homeowners have been forced to rely on window units for years. However, window AC units are inefficient, which makes them very expensive to run, and they are noisy as well. I once even heard my mother say, "Close the door! Don't let that expensive cold air out!" Now, there are better options for greater comfort with less noise and that cost much less to run.

Our homeowners in Arlington were tired of the seasonal install required for window air conditioners, followed by the need to remove and store them every winter. It always seems you've put the units away just before the last surprise heat wave hits! It was time to take care of that problem once and for all. The owners wanted to replace the ugly window AC units that were an eye-sore on the otherwise picture-perfect exterior. In addition, they wanted to get a little better heating and cooling for this home.

Home in Arlington, MA gets Mitsubishi ductless mini split system with outdoor condenser.

Supplementing Oil Heat with Ductless Heating and Cooling in Tewksbury, MA

One of the most common problems homeowners face is temperature varying throughout the home.  In the winter, the family room might be toasty, but the bedrooms are frigid, or there simply isn't adequate cooling in spring and summer.  Often, as the humidity begins to climb, these problems get worse. When it never seems to be comfortable in the house, it can be amazing how debates over thermostat can cause family strife.

This home on Tewksbury, MA faced some of these problems. Our empty-nest homeowners were sick and tired of the dramatic and uncomfortable temperature fluctuations in their home.  They have an oil-fired, forced hot water heating system using radiators in the home, but this does not effectively circulate heat.

The homeowners also did not have central air system and needed a year-round solution that would make their entire home comfortable no matter the season.

Home in Tewksbury, MA, gets a new ductless heating and cooling system.

Problem: Many areas of the home weren't getting the proper heat - or AC - they needed.  The living room, family room, office/computer room and master bedroom are the most used areas in the home and we were tasked to make them fully comfortable. In order to do this, we had to stop the "freeze/thaw" cycles the homeowners felt going from room to room.

Solution: Installed a Mitsubishi ductless heating and air conditioning four-zone Hyper Heat unit.  Indoor units were installed in the living room, family room, office and master bedroom to provide maximum comfort all year long.

Outdoor installation of a Mitsubishi ductless unit in Tewksbury, MA.

Our homeowners heat was inadequate and they needed a permanent solution for cooling as well.  Mitsubishi ductless AC unit installation was an obvious solution for cooling and the new, super-efficient Hyper Heat system added the needed heating options for those hard to warm spots throughout the home.

Mitsubishi systems are remote controlled for easy temperature adjustment.

By designing a four-zone system, we made sure that different areas of their home could be adjusted to maximize comfort without adjusting the temperature of the whole home.

With the old oil-based radiator system still in place, this multi-zone ductless solution allows customization - the bedroom can be toasty while the office remains cool.  They can even cool off the family room during the day if it gets a little too much sun!

Zones allow this customization of temperatures, easily and efficiently. Now there are no more arguments over the thermostat because these homeowners don’t have to settle for one-size fits all heating and cooling.  That comfort and convenience will give this family many more years of comfort in their beautiful Tewksbury location.

Saving Money with Rebates

Mitsubishi ductless air conditioning is part of the Massachusetts MassSave program, which helped this couple get a rebate of $250 on this installation!

Due to the energy efficient technology involved, rebates are issued for systems like this because they help out the environment. These ductless split system ACs can you save significantly when compared to traditional heating with fossil fuels, like the oil-burning hot water system in this home.

There are still rebates available, so if you are interested in making the switch to energy efficient equipment, be sure to ask your specialist about what sort of rebates would apply.

Let’s recap the key points of this home:

  • The home owners now have a comfortable, quiet solution to heat and cool four prime areas of their home.

No removal or replacement of equipment was necessary and the newly installed equipment is out of the way.

  • The four-zone system with one outdoor unit is a cost-effective way to deliver maximum comfort with a small footprint.

Ductless AC Gives Newton Colonial Heating and Cooling Relief

This lovely colonial-style home in Newton, MA needed additional heating and cooling. The homeowners wanted to convert one of the bedrooms into a music studio, so having great climate control AND noise reduction was key. They also wanted to ensure the recording they did wouldn’t have the distracting hum of traditional window air conditioners or the noise from fans that are amplified if caught on sound recording equipment. We knew we had to balance comfort and ambient noise to meet the goals of our client. We were able to design a great system using Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating technology that will be able to deliver quiet, efficient heating and cooling for this space while saving our homeowners on energy bills.

Newton MA colonial gets Mitsubishi ductless heating and cooling.

Problem: The homeowners were converting a bedroom into a music studio, which would require the room to have adequate climate control for instruments and equipment and a quiet system to prevent "artifact" noise when they were recording music.

Solution: N.E.T.R. Inc. installed a Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating ductless unit to provide additional heating and cooling to supplement their existing gas heat while providing extra quiet cooling during the spring and summer.

Indoor example of ductless AC unit with Hyper-Heating technology.

For these homeowners comfort is about noise as well as temperature. They wanted to make sure that all their sound equipment was treated as well as any member of the family. They needed climate control in the new studio to keep their expensive equipment in top working order. Unlike most homeowners who are most concerned about comfort, our homeowners were equally concerned about ambient noise.

N.E.T.R Inc.  suggested the Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating ductless system, which will bring supplemental heating and cooling into the new music studio. It provides not only easy controls to maintain the perfect temperature and is widely known for being one of the quietest systems available. While most of our customers are surprised and delighted by the quietness of the Hyper-Heating system, for these homeowners, this was a key feature they required. They were impressed that after installation, the system generated a mere 19 DB of noise- "whisper quiet" they remarked. The ductless AC unit is wall mounted, out of the way of the instruments and recording gear and circulates the air to keep everything functioning well.

This family was also able to save money with a rebate of $1,125! There are rebates issued for these systems because of their energy efficient, environmentally friendly technology.. Rebates are still available, so if you are interested in this type of energy efficient equipment as well, be sure to ask your  N.E.T.R Inc. specialist about what sort of rebates would apply.

The key points of this installation:

  • The homeowners now have a comfortable, quiet solution to heat their new music studio, keeping temperatures perfect for instruments and audio equipment.

  • Ambient noise is only 19 DB, whisper quiet, making sure comfort doesn't come with background noise like with window air conditioning units.

  • The energy bills will go down because of the energy efficient technology.

  • No removal or replacement of current HVAC equipment was necessary.

  • $1,125 rebate was available to homeowners, making this solution cost-effective as well!

A Great Investment

This kind of installation is going to help our homeowners with a few things. This new unit will allow them to control the temperature in the studio with pin-point accuracy, and it will do so incredibly quietly which was necessary for a recording studio but appreciated by all customers! Our customers can still use their current system to heat the rest of the house, so this ductless heating and cooling system  will act as a supplemental zone for this new studio, ensuring maximum comfort with minimal disruption. No removal of an old system was necessary.

This technology will also help save money on energy bills, since it is an energy efficient solution. The homeowner was also eligible for a $1,125 rebate!

A Mitsubishi ductless split system was the perfect solution for this Brownstone in Boston’s South End

The Ideal Air Conditioning Solution for a Boston Brownstone

In the end, we chose a textbook Brownstone solution.

Based on the homeowner's wish to have absolute control over the temperature in every room in the house, we recommended a five head multi-zone unit from Mitsubishi.

Because we can run all five heads off the same outdoor unit, which keeps the cost under control, we were also able to make this install quickly and efficiently.

We dropped the condenser on the back patio and hid the line in a piece of crown molding, so it blends right in with the brick. All in all, the installation was seamless and didn’t interfere with the home’s beauty.
