Example of outdoor air condenser for Mitsubishi ductless AC.

The problem this family was having was providing heating and cooling to their Braintree, MA, split-level house with an open floor plan. Since the summers have been getting progressively warmer over the past few years, this family’s traditional window air conditioner units weren't providing enough cooling. They decided to look into a long-term, energy-efficient solution instead.

N.E.T.R., Inc. suggested the family install a Mitsubishi ductless cooling system, that would bring much-needed comfort to their home. A ductless system like this delivers zoned comfort to the home, where you need it. The ductless unit helps circulate air as well, enhancing cooling in the entire home. Unlike traditional window air conditioners that are noisy, suck energy, and often leak water, this energy-efficient ductless unit will bring quiet coolness to this home.

Saving Money While Maximizing Efficiency- and Getting Rebates!

N.E.T.R., Inc. helped the homeowners secure a ductless rebate of $250 for this installation due to the energy-efficient nature of the Mitsubishi AC unit. Now, the family is saving money by lower operating costs. They received a rebate for increasing their energy-efficiency and gained a quiet air conditioning system in the process. That's money in the bank for them, not only this year but each year in the future. This family’s story is a fantastic example of how Mitsubishi ductless air conditioning systems are the energy-efficient and money-saving choice for smart homeowners everywhere.

A Great Investment

Split-Level Home in Burlington, MA, Gets Ductless Mini Split Relief

One of the most common problems we see when visiting homes is that they don't have balanced temperatures throughout the house. Split-level homes can be especially challenging to heat and cool. One room may be too cold while another is too hot. There seems to be no way to come to a happy medium.

The way most homeowners make those cold rooms warm is by cranking up the heat, causing other rooms to become too hot and increased the energy bills. That was the situation for this family in Burlington, MA.

Burlington, MA, ductless heating and air conditioning installation.

Problem: The existing HVAC system in this split-level home couldn't keep the temperature even from one room to another, causing uneven heating and cooling. The older heating system was running inefficiently, costing the homeowners a lot of money, and they were still cold!

Solution: We installed a single-zone Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating ductless unit to supplement the existing system. This install gave the homeowner pinpoint control over the temperature in the main living space and reduced the load on the current system.

Mitsubishi Ductless Heat Pump Installed in Belmont, MA, Home

One of the most common problems homeowners face is uneven heating throughout the home.  For example, the family room might be toasty, but the bedrooms are too cold. The lack of balanced temperatures will cause folks to crank up the heat, making the comfy rooms stuffy and too warm in order to make the chilly rooms bearable.

It's impossible to find a happy medium, and every time you turn up the heat, you are also increasing your energy bills. This family in Belmont, MA, was facing this exact problem, their Cape-style home had a second floor that just wasn't getting the heat they needed.

Belmont, MA, home gets Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating heat pump.

Problem: The second floor of the home where the bedrooms and bathroom were stayed cold all winter. The heating unit for the main level worked well, but they needed to add an additional zone.

Solution: Installed a Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating heat pump unit with internal ducts on the second floor, due to the proximity of the rooms.

Mitsubishi heat pump using existing ductwork for maximum efficiency.

The problem this family was having was heating their second floor. This renovated cape-style home needed a unique solution, especially since the rooms on the second floor are so close together.

N.E.T.R. INC. suggested the family install a Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating system, that could use a small bit of ductwork to ensure great airflow but also conceal the mechanical parts of the system.

The Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating system is incredibly flexible. While it is often thought of as a "ductless" system, in this case, we used the Mitsubishi ductless unit in conjunction with ductwork to give the family a perfect solution for their second-floor space. We put the mechanical part of the system in the attic, keeping it out of the way, while using a duct to bring the heat right to where it's needed.

The flexibility of the Hyper-Heating system allows us to create custom solutions based on the individual needs of homeowners.  These heat pump systems can be used with or without ductwork when needed, like in this home, to enable maximum comfort given the proximity of the rooms.

Saving Money- Maximizing Rebates

N.E.T.R. INC. worked with Sagewell Energy Analytics, which manages the Belmont Municipal lighting rebate program, to help get the homeowner a rebate of $850 on this Mitsubishi heat pump installation! Because this is energy efficient technology, there are rebates issued for systems like this because they are environmentally friendly. There are still rebates available, so if you are interested in this type of energy efficient equipment as well, be sure to ask your N.E.T.R. Inc. Mitsubishi specialist about what sort of rebates would apply.

So just to recap the key points of this home:

  • The homeowners now have a comfortable, quiet solution to heat their second floor.

  • No removal or replacement of equipment was necessary, and the new equipment was able to be installed out of the way. By using a Hyper-Heating heat pump model with ductwork, we were able to provide maximum comfort in a small footprint.

  • $850 rebate was available to the homeowners.

A Great Investment

This kind of installation is going to help our homeowners with a few things. They are still using their current system to heat, so this ductless heat pump installation will act as supplemental heating their current system. No removal of an old heating system is necessary.

This technology will also help save money on energy bills, being that it is an energy efficient solution. The homeowner was also eligible for a $850 rebate!

Supplementing Oil Heat with a Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioner in Reading, MA Colonial

Oil heat is great, especially with prices what they are these days, but often homes with traditional oil burners will have some rooms that are warm and toasty, while others are less comfortable.

Many homes with oil heat do not have central air, and folks have typically depended on window units to get through the hottest days of summer. For our homeowners in this Reading, MA colonial, they found that their family room and master bedroom were just not as comfortable as they would have liked.

It just never seems to be comfortable everywhere, and it's amazing how debates over thermostat settings can cause family strife.

In order to solve this problem, we knew that adding additional zones of heating and cooling would solve this problem simply and economically. By installing a Mitsubishi ductless mini split air conditioner, we could easily create multiple zones of comfort that can be adjusted independently, allowing the homeowners to adjust the temperature to their level of comfort, just where they needed it most using a remote control!

Problem: Important areas of the home weren't getting the proper heating and cooling they needed. The family room and master bedroom are the most used areas in the home, and we were tasked to make them fully comfortable every day of the year to stop the "freeze/thaw" cycles the homeowners felt going from room to room.

Solution: NETR installed a Mitsubishi ductless air conditioner with indoor units in the family room and master bedroom to provide maximum comfort all year long, just where it's needed most.

Our homeowners wanted to be comfortable in the rooms they used most without heating space that wasn't being used, wasting money.

A Mitsubishi mini split installation was an obvious solution for efficient, quiet cooling, and the new incredibly efficient Hyper Heat system would also add heat on demand for those hard-to-heat spots throughout the home.

Remote-controlled ductless HVAC system in Boston, MA area

By designing a two-zone ductless HVAC system, the homeowners made sure that different areas of their home could be adjusted to maximize comfort without adjusting the overall temperature of the home, giving them maximum control where they needed it.

While the old oil-based radiator system remains in place, this two-zone ductless solution allows customization. The bedroom can be toasty while the family room, or they might want a little extra cooling during the day in the sunny family room. Zones allow this customization of temperatures, easily and efficiently, making sure there are no more arguments or "one-size fits all" heating and cooling. That's comfort and convenience that will give these homeowners many more years of comfort in their beautiful Reading location.

Saving Money with CEC and Mass Save Rebates

Mitsubishi ductless air conditioning is part of the Massachusetts MassSave program, and many homes like this can qualify for rebates with installation. Mitsubishi Ductless Hyper-Heating System for Zoned Comfort in Billerica

Billerica has a reputation for its charming neighborhoods with colonial-style homes like this one. Many of them use baseboard heat, and many do not have central air conditioning. As a result, homeowners, like this one, often rely on noisy and energy-hogging window air conditioners to try to cool their homes. When our homeowners asked us to see what we could do to make their home more comfortable, especially in summer, we knew that having a ductless system would give them the maximum comfort at an affordable price.

By using a Mitsubishi ductless Hyper-Heating multi-zone system, we were able to deliver maximum cooling, effectively replacing six window air conditioners. Not only will our homeowners save money on energy, they now have a permanent solution for heating and cooling that no longer requires the seasonal back-breaking work of installing and uninstalling window units.

Problem: This lovely Colonial in the Pinehurst neighborhood in Billerica was relying on window air conditioners to try to cool their home, but the units were inefficient, noisy, time-consuming, and left our owners uncomfortable during hot days.

Solution: We installed a five-zone Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating ductless system that will provide cooling and heating as needed throughout the home, providing pinpoint control over their heating and cooling.

Indoor example of wall mounted ductless AC.

Uneven Heating and Cooling Throughout the Home is a Pain

Our homeowners wanted to make sure each bedroom could control the temperature independently, and the downstairs family room and living room areas would be equally comfortable, summer or winter.  The window units they were using weren't getting the job done.  The heavy, bulky window ACs were expensive to run, as well as difficult to install, especially when temperatures seem to very so much.

The family uses gas-fired hot water radiator baseboards for heat, like so many homes in the area.  With the new five zone Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating heat pump system, they will have quiet comfort every day of the year. In spring and summer, a mere touch of a button will deliver cool air as needed. Just as easily, the heat pump can provide quality heat down to -13 F. Each of the ductless ACs installed add additional warm or cooled air to any of the rooms as needed. This independent AC system is much more efficient than waiting for a central HVAC system to heat or cool an entire home to the desired temperature. This allowed the homeowners to supplement their existing HVAC system without requiring the expense of removing the old equipment.

  • Their energy bills will go down because of the energy-efficient ductless technology, while increasing comfort.

  • No removal of the traditional heating system was needed for the Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating heat pump installation, and the window air conditioning units were no longer needed!

Best of All, $3,150 in rebate money was available to homeowners! Along with low-cost financing, they are only paying $235 a month to cover the installation of this whole-home solution.

A Great Investment

They will no longer have to go through the ritual of installing and removing window air conditioning units twice a year or worry about their maintenance and storage. With a touch of a button on a remote control, they will be able to have the heating or cooling they desire, on demand, room by room. Every person will be able to customize the temperature in their bedroom according to their needs, and achieve additional cost savings by not heating or cooling rooms when not in use. The house can be completely comfortable, at all times.

Ductless Heating and Cooling in a Kitchen and Master Bedroom in Woburn

Colonial-style homes in our area were often built without ductwork, and they often use oil radiators of one sort or another for heat. This type of heating can work well for most people in the winter. However, in the summer, they must rely on window air conditioners to try to cut the heat and humidity. Living in a turn of the century house you get used to the ritual of dragging the heavy AC units out of the basement, lugging them up a couple of flights of stairs. Often, multiple people are needed to install the window ACs and make sure they don’t fall out of the window in the process. Also, the insulation must be installed appropriately, so you don't waste money and energy!

In the fall, the whole painful process must be reversed and frequently took place just before another heat spell set in. It's an incredibly labor-intensive process for air conditioning. Plus, only the rooms with AC units ever get entirely comfortable, and it's no wonder that homeowners like ours in Woburn were looking for a better solution.

Woburn kitchen gets Mitsubishi ductless Hyper-Heating.

Problem: The kitchen in this home was never comfortable, and the upstairs bedroom never seemed cool enough in the summer. Besides, the cost of running the loud window AC units was expensive, and they were difficult to install, remove, and store.

Solution: Installed two Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating Ductless Units that will cool the kitchen and bedroom with the touch of a button, and provide additional heat, if needed in the winter.

Example of an indoor wall mounted ductless AC unit.

This family needed a comfort upgrade! Their colonial style home has oil heated baseboards for heat, but the home lacked ductwork. This situation left them to rely on window air conditioning units, and their home was uncomfortable for most of the warmer months of the year. The kitchen and bedroom never got the air circulation or cooling needed from the window air conditioning units, which were also causing expensive energy bills.

When they called us, we knew that we could help them eliminate the need for window air conditioners. Installing two wall-mounted ductless units, in the kitchen and bedroom, would provide lasting comfort with a reliable heating and air conditioning system. The wall ACs are mounted out of the way, and the family can use their windows to see outside, instead of looking at an ugly window AC for four to five months a year!

N.E.T.R., Inc. suggested that they install two Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating Ductless Unit. This solution involves one outdoor heat pump, and two indoor wall mounted ductless AC units. The ductless mini-split system is expandable so that this family can add additional indoor ductless ACs in the future. These ductless mini-split ACs can also act as supplemental heat in the winter, so they can take any extra chill out of a room with the remote control, whenever they want.
