Jamaica Plain Condo Owner Gets Mitsubishi Ductless

Mason-Kim-JP-ExteriorOwning a condo in Jamaica Plain in Boston, MA, usually means you’re staying in one of the numerous Victorian homes in the area. Many of the majestic homes from the turn of the century have been converted into condos and multi-family complexes, which allows them to remain affordable and functional.

This homeowner was living in a beautiful 1,200 sqft condominium that offered two bedrooms, a basement, a large kitchen, and a spacious dining/living area. The home was beautiful, in a great location, and gave the family all the space they needed, but there was one major problem.

The home had no air conditioning system. With summer approaching, the family knew that they needed a solution fast, so they looked into options for energy-efficient AC and found N.E.T.R., Inc..

The Problem: Condominium in Jamaica Plain in Boston needed air conditioning installed in one bedroom, the living room, the kitchen, and the basement. No existing HVAC provided AC for the home.

The Solution: N.E.T.R., Inc. installed an outdoor unit with four indoor air handlers for this Mitsubishi ductless AC system. Now, the family has cooling relief throughout the home.

The Design

Mistubishi ductless unit installed in Jamaica Plain condo. This family was in love with their new condo, but the lack of air conditioning was quickly going to be a problem. Especially since Boston’s summers have been getting hotter and hotter lately.

They began researching their options for cooling solutions. Window ACs are a common solution for homes with no central AC because they have a low initial investment and are a “quick-fix.” Generally, the homeowner can install the unit themselves and resolve the problem within a day or so. However, window air conditioning units come with a long list of issues and potential pitfalls.

Window units are known for being noisy, inefficient, expensive to maintain, and a hassle to install and store during the winter. Additionally, there have been reports of burglars using windows with AC units installed in them as entry-points for home!

Jamaica Plain condo in Boston gets Mitsubishi ductless AC system. With this knowledge, the family knew that window ACs were not the solution for them. Instead, they read outstanding reviews about the Mistubishi ductless air conditioning systems on the market and knew it would be a perfect fit. Next, they just needed to find a contractor to install the system.

That search led them straight to N.E.T.R., Inc. Our status as Mitsubishi’s #1 Elite Diamond Dealer in Boston, MA, sets us apart and allows our highly-trained technicians to offer superior customer service and extended warranties. Additionally, N.E.T.R., Inc. has years of experience providing Mitsubishi ductless solutions to families in and around the Boston area. All of this made the family certain that we could provide a solution for them.

Chip Moeckel took on the project and met with the family to tour the home. He designed a complete system using a single outdoor condenser unit and four interior, wall-mounted ductless ACs.

The Installation

Example of an indoor Mitsubishi ductless wall AC in Boston, MA. Chip and his crew installed the four indoor units in one of the two bedrooms, the kitchen, the living room, and the basement. The placement of the units would easily offer cooling throughout the entire home, allowing the family to enjoy quality air conditioning all summer long.

The ductless wall ACs are relatively easy to install and do not require extensive construction to the home. In fact, they only needed to drill a small hole into the wall behind the unit. This hole allows the tubing that carries the treated air to be snaked through the walls like electrical wiring. Each of the units is connected to the outdoor air condenser, which converts the air from outside into cool air for the home.

The units are installed high on the walls so that they don’t interfere with day-to-day life and provide optimal air-flow throughout the space. Each unit operates on its own thermostat, which is controlled with a remote. This design allows the family to adjust the temperatures in the rooms separately so that they are perfectly comfortable.

The Benefits

Outdoor air condenser unit installed in Boston, MA. One of the major benefits of installing this ductless system is its energy-efficient design. These Mitsubishi ductless units are some of the most energy-efficient technology for air conditioning systems available on the residential market today. That means that this family will enjoy savings on their energy bills for years to come when other systems would cost a fortune to run.

Additionally, the family was able to apply for a rebate with Mass Save, which offers money back for homeowners who upgrade their homes in environmentally-friendly ways. These homeowners received $400 in rebates from Mass Save, just for installing this Mitsubishi system.

Another benefit to the Mitsubishi ductless design is that the unit doubles as heat pumps during the winter. Now, if the family finds their home is chilly on the coldest days of winter, the ductless system can add that extra touch of warmth they crave.

Summer Lake House on Lake Winnipesaukee Gets Ductless AC

summer home on Lake WinnipesaukeeMany families dream of owning a summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee. Life by the lake moves a little slower and offers an incredible escape from the busy city life. For our homeowners, they made this dream a reality!

Their quaint summer home sits right on the lake’s edge and offers a peaceful place to spend their time off. The house was fully equipped with a heating system but lacked any AC. Even though being right on the lake helped to keep the temperatures moderate, with the increasingly hot summers, the family was in need of a cooling solution for those extra hot days.

They needed a solution that would provide instant air conditioning in the three bedrooms and the family room. This comfort was necessary to make their home a year-round oasis that they can go to whenever they need to get away from the stress and pressure of everyday life.

Because of the home’s cabin-like aesthetic, they knew that they didn’t want to have to add ductwork. The addition of ductwork for a traditional air conditioning system could mean a long and expensive remodel of any rooms that need air conditioning.

The Problem: This summer lake house had an existing heating system, but lacked any air conditioning, leaving the family hot during the worst days of summer.

The Solution:N.E.T.R., Inc. installed a zoned ductless AC system throughout the home to provide quality cooling in the family room and all three bedrooms.

The Installation

heating system installedNot many families are lucky enough to find a great piece of real estate on Lake Winnipesaukee. Fortunately, our homeowners had a beautiful lake house where they hoped to spend the summers for years to come. The home already had a heating system installed, which kept the rooms comfortable in the winters.

However, many homes on the lake do not have air conditioning because of the temperate climate that naturally occurs on the lakefront. During the past few years, the summers in the area have been increasingly hot, so our homeowners knew that if they wanted their home to be completely comfortable all year long, they would need an air conditioning system.

multi-zoned ductless systemThe homeowners knew that they wanted a ductless AC system, since adding ductwork to the house would compromise the design and be a massive construction project. When they came across N.E.T.R., Inc., they knew we would be able to design a unique solution that was ideal for their home.

After surveying the property, Jimmy Smithell, proposed a multi-zoned ductless system that would deliver high-quality air conditioning where they needed it most. A single unit would be installed in all three of the bedrooms and a forth ductless AC unit would be placed in the family room. This multi-zoned ductless system would offer the family the ability to have pin-point control over their comfort in every room of the house.

Each of the ductless units will be mounted on the walls, out of the way, to optimize the air-flow throughout the space. Once the units are mounted, a small hole is cut in the walls, and thin tubing is run from the wall AC to the outdoor condenser unit. The tubing is small, like electrical wiring, and is much easier to install than ductwork, especially in a home with wood paneling, like this one.

The Benefits

energy-efficient heating and cooling systemDuctless air conditioning systems like this one are some of the most versatile and energy-efficient heating and cooling system on the market today. That’s why this family will be able to keep their home cool and comfortable all summer long, without spiking their energy bills.

Each ductless unit takes about the same amount of energy to run as a lightbulb, which is much cheaper than other solutions like window AC units. Additionally, these ductless ACs are whisper-quiet so that the family can fall asleep to the sounds of the lake, instead of the roar of the AC.

Another benefit of opting for a ductless system is that the units operate independently from one another. This feature allows the family to set each room to its own temperature without throwing off the whole system. Now, if mom and dad prefer a cool bedroom to sleep in and the kids like it a little warmer, they don’t have to fight over a central thermostat. Instead, each unit can be set to that person’s comfort by the touch of a button on the remote.

Moreover, the family will have the added comfort of knowing they have a back-up heating system in the winter. If their existing heating unit ever fails, the ductless units that N.E.T.R., Inc. installed can pick up the slack. Each AC unit easily converts into a heating system for optimal heating and cooling throughout the year.

The ductless AC system will also monitor the humidity in the home, which is essential for keeping a lake house in excellent condition. Now, the family will be able to stay comfortable and enjoy their lake house all year long.

Ductless Heating and Cooling in Cambridge Condo

This Cambridge condo was built with an old oil heating system, much like many of the homes in the area.  The owner loved the home’s updated Victorian aesthetic. However, the age of the house also meant there was no central AC system.

Cambridge condo gets ductless heating and cooling system.

Because the home was not equipped with ductwork, the owner knew that adding a central HVAC system would be out of the question. However, relying on window AC units and fans all summer long would leave them constantly uncomfortable.

Additionally, in the winter, the oil heating system kept some rooms warm while leaving others drafty. This was especially problematic when the oil heating system would kick on, driving up the temperature in some rooms, while others never warmed up. This meant the homeowners were always dealing with drastically fluctuating temperatures, and they had finally had enough.

It was time to look for a solution that would provide consistent year-round temperature control that the owner could rely on. Another requirement for this owner was that the new system would be cost-effective and energy-efficient to help keep energy bills low.

The Problem: The homeowner was tired of the inadequate oil heating system that left some rooms too hot, and others feeling icy.  They also needed an AC system that would be energy-efficient and cost-effective.

The Solution: N.E.T.R. Inc. installed a three-zone ductless heating and cooling system that will provide pin-point control in the office, bedroom, and dining room.

The Installation

Example of indoor ductless AC in Cambridge home. After researching options, the owner of this condo in Cambridge found our many highly rated reviews from previous customers in the area. N.E.T.R., Inc. has helped tons of owners facing the same need for supplemental heating and a full AC system in the Cambridge area. This information convinced the owner that we could provide a solution for their home.

When they contacted N.E.T.R., Inc., the project manager assigned to this case knew he could design a simple system to give year-round comfort for this Cambridge home. After meeting with the owner and walking through the condo, Jimmy proposed that a three-zone ductless system. A single outdoor condenser would be the most cost-effective solution that would provide heating and cooling throughout the year.

Ductless AC for heating and cooling in Cambridge. The main problem areas of this home were the dining room, bedroom, and office space. These rooms stayed drafty all winter and muggy in the summer. Jimmy installed the three wall units to give maximum airflow throughout the room. Because of the wall-mounted design of the ductless ACs, he was able to find places in every room that would circulate the air most efficiently without interfering with the aesthetic of the room. Additionally, the units are easy to access for maintenance and cleaning.

Unlike traditional, central air conditioning systems, ductless does not require ductwork to move the treated air throughout the home. Instead, thin tubing is piped through the walls like electrical wire from the indoor AC unit to the outdoor condenser. The condenser then pumps the air from outside to the indoor units, using refrigerant to heat or cool the room accordingly.

The Benefits of Ductless

Example of an indoor ductless air conditioner installed in a condo.Along with providing state-of-the-art heating and cooling relief for our homeowner, the ductless system installed in this condo offers numerous other benefits. One of the best features is that each indoor AC operates on its own thermostat. This design allows the owner to keep the study nice and cool. At the same time, the bedroom is warm and cozy, without a central system fighting to regulate the two. Instead, the units are controlled with a remote that allows for pin-point adjustments at any time.

Additionally, because they are not part of a centralized system, the ductless units can be turned off if they are not in use. For example, if the study is only being used during the semester, then the unit in that room can be turned off for summer break when the room is not in use. This individualization will help to keep energy bills lower throughout the year.

Another benefit of the ductless system is that it monitors the humidity in the air as well as the temperature. The ability to control the humidity allows for even more precise control of the comfort of a space, so this owner will be able to feel perfectly comfortable all year long.

Outdoor condenser unit example. Each ductless unit can produce heating or air conditioning, which saved the owner from having to install multiple systems to stay comfortable throughout the year. They will also be able to expand the system at any point in the future. If they decide the kitchen or living rooms need additional heat or air conditioning, they just have to call N.E.T.R., Inc.

The new ductless heating system will work with the existing oil system to provide supplemental heat, which will reduce the owner’s cost to heat their home throughout the winter. Because of the energy-efficient design of the ductless system, the owner will see a significant drop in their heating expenses every month.

Another benefit of ductless technology is that they operate at a whisper-quiet level.  In fact, these systems are so quiet that we’ve installed them in recording studios in the past. Now, the owner won’t have to worry about being woken up in the middle of the night by the noisy window AC. Instead, they’ll get a full night’s sleep all year long.

Is Ductless Right for You?

If you’re living in a home with an outdated heating and air conditioning system, then upgrading your home to ductless AC may save you on your monthly energy bills.  These ductless systems are so energy efficient that they only take the same amount of energy to run as a standard lightbulb.

If you’re looking to save on monthly bills or just need a heating and cooling solution for your home, contact N.E.T.R., Inc. today.

Eco-Friendly Ductless Solution for Hudson, NH, Home

The summers in Hudson, NH, have been increasingly hard to bear for this family living in a split-level home.  Like most split-level homes, this house had problems with heating and air conditioning evenly, leaving the family with hot and cold spots.

Hudson, NH, home gets ductless AC solution.During the winter, the family used the home’s propane heating system.  However, in the summertime, they were forced to rely on window AC units. These window units were noisy, expensive, and inefficient to run. The major problem spots in this home were the gym and the two bedrooms.

The gym stayed so hot and humid in the summer that it was almost impossible to use! The window AC units provided some relief, but they weren’t able to keep up on the hottest days of the year.

Additionally, the bedrooms stayed muggy all summer long, which led to sleepless nights tossing and turning in the heat. Another problem the family faced was that the window ACs are extremely noisy, which made getting a good night’s sleep almost impossible!

Window air conditioners are also known to be a security threat for homes since burglars can use them as entry points. There have been many cases reports of burglars entering a home by simply pushing the AC unit into the house and crawling through the window.

The family knew it was time for a change, so they looked into hiring N.E.T.R., Inc.

The Problem: The split-level home was heated with propane and had no central AC, so the family used window ACs. This solution was expensive and offered little relief from the hot summers.

The Solution: N.E.T.R. Inc. designed a system with three indoor ductless AC units that would provide air conditioning and heating for year-round comfort.

The Installation

Ductless wall unit installed in a home gym in Hudson, NH.After finding numerous 5-star reviews from previous happy customers in the area, this family knew that N.E.T.R., Inc. would be able to design a solution for them. They needed an HVAC system that would provide outstanding air conditioning in the summer and allow them to get rid of their window ACs, which were driving up energy bills. This family also wanted a solution that would be more eco-friendly, since window units are known for being incredibly inefficient.

Most often, the inefficiency in window ACs comes from an improper seal, which lets the hot air leak in from outside.  Additional problems come from having to install and store the bulky units, which takes up valuable time and space.

This family was tired of dealing with the window units and ready for an easy solution to all their heating and cooling problems. When Michael Herrick met with the family and walked through the home for his initial assessment, he knew just what to do.

Example of ductless AC in Hudson, NH, home. Michael designed a three-zoned ductless system using the existing Hyper-Heating condenser unit that would provide instant cooling relief. Both bedrooms and the gym would have a ductless wall AC installed on the walls. The units would then have thin tubing run through the walls to the outdoor condenser.

Because the ductless units do not require massive reconstruction or renovations, they are excellent solutions for families that are looking for an easy solution. The tubing is run from the indoor air handler to the outdoor condenser like an electrical wire and only requires a small hole to be cut in the wall. This solution is perfect for homes without pre-existing ductwork!

The Benefits of Ductless

The placement of the indoor ductless ACs allows for optimal distribution of the cooled air, which will offer the family pin-point control of their comfort. Using the remote control, they can adjust the temperature with the touch of a button from the comfort of their bed.

Split level home gets ductless AC units for year-round comfort. Each AC unit functions independently of the others. So, if mom and dad prefer a warm bedroom, but the kids like something a little cooler, no one has to fight over the thermostat. Additionally, the units monitor the humidity of the room and adjust accordingly, providing premium comfort throughout the year, which is especially important in the gym!

In the winter, the family can simply turn off the ductless units and enjoy the heat from their propane heating system. Or, on unusually cold days, they can use the ductless AC units as high-quality heaters for an extra touch of warmth. These units use Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating technology to keep a room feeling perfect even when the temperatures outside reach -13 degrees!

Another benefit this family will enjoy is the whisper-quiet technology that makes these ductless units ideal for any home. In fact, our ductless systems are so quiet that we’ve installed them in recording studios!

Additionally, the family will see a significant drop in their energy bills this summer, thanks to the ductless system’s energy-efficient design. These units use as much power as a lightbulb to keep a room cool. This change will provide incredible savings when compared to the expense of running the window ACs all summer. The family will even see savings over the winter as they use the new ductless system to supplement their existing propane heating system.

Ductless Heating and Cooling for Basement in Somerville

The owners of this quaint Colonial townhouse in Somerville, MA, were experiencing continual problems with the basement space. The home was equipped with a gas heating system but provided no central AC. This design hadn’t been a problem so far, except in the basement.

Somerville townhouse gets single-zone ductless heating and cooling system.Because the heating system did not serve the basement, winter left the space frigid and unusable. Additionally, the lack of an AC system meant that the basement was humid and muggy in the summertime. This family used their basement for piano, which was highly sensitive to changes in the humidity and needed a stable environment.

The family agreed that a heating and cooling system needed to be installed to keep the basement a functional part of the house. Ideally, they wanted a single system that would provide heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. Another requirement was that it needed to be a cost-effective system that would run up their energy bills. Additionally, a solution with humidity control would help preserve the life of their piano.

They discovered N.E.T.R., Inc., and read some of our reviews from other customers in the area who had similar problems. After finding our expertise in ductless systems, the family felt confident that we would be able to design a solution for their home.

The Problem: The basement of this townhouse in Somerville, MA, was muggy and humid in the summer and ice cold in the winter. The lack of heating and air conditioning made the space almost useless.

The Solution: N.E.T.R., Inc. installed a single ductless air conditioner that will double as a ductless heating system in the winter. This unit was connected to an outdoor condenser and will provide humidity control, as well.

The Installation

Example of a ductless air conditioning unit installed in the basement.Jimmy Smithell met with the family to walk through the basement and design a solution. He decided that the best fit for the space would be a single ductless AC unit with an outdoor condenser.

The indoor unit was mounted on the wall near the piano, which allows it to provide the best air circulation for the room. Additionally, the unit will be out of the way and won’t interfere with the décor or aesthetic of the space.

The outdoor condenser was placed on the right side of the home, where it was out of sight. Then, the indoor unit was connected to the condenser through thin tubing. Because the ductless system does not require ductwork, it is an excellent option for basements and older homes. The entire system can be installed by cutting a few small holes in the wall, instead of a massive construction project to add and hide new ducts.

The tubing for the system is run through the walls, similar to electrical wiring. This tubing allows the condenser to push the air from outside to the air handler inside the home.

The Benefits

One of the benefits of ductless systems is that it allows for pinpoint control of the temperature throughout the year. The ductless AC is controlled with a remote, instead of a central thermostat so that it can be adjusted from the comfort of your couch.

In systems with multiple units, each ductless AC can be controlled separately from the others. This design allows for greater control of the comfort of the home, by setting the temperature for that room individually, instead of using a centralized system. Now, the family can keep the basement warmer in the winter, without straining their existing system.

Outdoor condenser unit installed in Somerville, MA.The ductless AC unit installed in this Somerville townhouse is one of the best quality heating systems available. It will provide state-of-the-art heating all winter long so that the family can enjoy their basement, even on the coldest days. In addition, the ductless AC unit will easily switch to providing AC in the summer. This installation will finally allow the family to make the most of their basement all year long.

Another benefit of this system is that it offers high-quality humidity control. This ductless unit will be able to monitor the basement’s humidity and make adjustments as needed. The family was thrilled to know that this single system would solve all of their problems.

Additionally, the energy-efficient system qualified this family for a rebate of $215, which helped to offset the cost of the installation. Not only that, but the system is so efficient that it takes about the same energy as a light bulb to run!

The ductless system is built to be easy to expand. If the family ever decides that they need additional heat in the bedroom or a little extra cooling power in the kitchen, N.E.T.R., Inc. can add a unit without any trouble.

Year-Round Ductless AC System for Home in Salem, MA

The winters in Salem, MA, can be brutal, especially for homeowners with inadequate heating systems. Older oil heating systems can be prone to leaving hot and cold spots throughout the house. This inconsistency can lead to expensive energy bills when the owners try to heat the colder areas of their homes.

Salem, MA, home upgrades to ductless heating and cooling. These homeowners had a pellet stove to supplement their oil heat, but they were still struggling to keep their dining room and bedrooms warm. Additionally, the summertime presented the same problem with keeping the rooms cool.

During the summer, they had no way to keep these rooms cool. The family wanted to avoid using window AC units for a multitude of reasons. Primarily, window ACs are known to be highly inefficient and expensive to run. Another problem with window units is that they present a significant security risk since burglars have been known to use the open windows as entry points to homes.

Finally, the family decided that they were ready to find a new heating and cooling solution for their home. The family needed a system that would be energy-efficient to help save them money on their energy bills.

The Problem: The family in Salem, MA, had a single-family home with no AC system and oil heating. They supplemented the oil system with a pellet stove but still found themselves in need of a new heating and cooling system.

The Solution: N.E.T.R., Inc. installed a three-zoned ductless heating and cooling AC system that would serve the dining room and two bedrooms. This system replaced the existing heating system and provides pinpoint comfort all year long.

The Installation

Example of indoor ductless AC in Salem, MA, home. The family started their search for a new HVAC solution by looking online. There, they found N.E.T.R., Inc. and read reviews and case studies about previous jobs in the area. After seeing that we had found heating and cooling solutions for homes just like theirs, they knew we’d be able to meet their needs.

Jimmy Smithell was the project manager for this installation. Jimmy met with the family and looked over their existing system and the layout of their home. He recommended replacing the oil heating and pellet stove in the dining room and bedrooms. These units would be replaced with ductless AC indoor air handlers.

Ductless heating and cooling system installed in Salem home. The ductless ACs are built to be installed high on the walls, out of the way, so that they provide the best airflow throughout the room. Jimmy knew that he could get the job done with just three ductless ACs and an outdoor condenser unit.

The ductless units were installed in both bedrooms and the dining room. Jimmy and his team made sure to pick the placement of each unit carefully so that it would have the least visual impact and the best air distribution. Then, thin tubing was run through the walls to connect with the outdoor air condenser, which was installed on the left side of the home. This placement made it easy for technicians to get to the unit for maintenance, without it interfering with the home’s curb appeal.

The Benefits

Salem, MA, single family home gets a ductless HVAC system installed. The new system will offer state-of-the-art heating in the winter and high-quality air conditioning in the winter. Now, instead of running the entire system to try and bring a few rooms up to temperature, they’ll be able to turn up the heat in those rooms alone. Each of the ductless ACs is controlled by a separate thermostat and remote control, which allows it to be set differently from the others in the system. This design means that they can keep the bedroom nice and cozy, but cool off the dining room, without interfering with the rest of the home.

The owners knew they would want to be able to turn off the system during the days while they were away at work because it would help to save even more energy. Because the units are individually controlled, they can easily be turned off when not in use. Jimmy suggested that they equip the system with Kumo Cloud technology. This system allows the owners to access the control of their ductless ACs through an app on their smartphones. Now, they can set the temperature before heading home from work, and the entire home will be the perfect temperature when they arrive.

Outdoor condenser installed for Salem home ductless AC system. Each of the units will also monitor the humidity in the room and make adjustments. This humidity control allows the units to maximize the owners’ comfort levels even more. Now, the family will never have to endure another muggy day during the summer or suffer from dry air in the winter. Instead, they’ll be able to make adjustments whenever they need it.

Dutch Colonial in Roslindale Installs Mitsubishi Ductless

Two-story Dutch Colonial home in Roslindale, MA, upgrades window ACs to ductless.Like many of the homes in Roslindale, MA, this adorable two-story Dutch Colonial was built without central AC. The process to install the ductwork needed for a centralized system would be lengthy, expensive, and require massive construction inside the home.

The family had been avoiding installing a new air conditioning system for just these reasons. They had been using a window AC unit to keep the office cool in the summertime. However, this was expensive to run and left the home with hot and cold areas.

Additionally, window units are known security risks for homes. There have been numerous reports of burglars breaking into homes by pushing window units through the window into the home. This security threat was something the family wanted to avoid, so they started looking into alternative options for cooling their office.

The Problem: The family owners of this two-story Dutch Colonial home in Roslindale, MA, had no air conditioning in the office. They were using a window AC to keep cool, but the expense and safety risks were not worth the air conditioning provided.

The Solution: N.E.T.R., Inc. installed a Mitsubishi ductless AC system with a single indoor air handler and one outdoor condenser unit. The new AC system is designed to allow for further expansion if the family needs additional cooling in the future.

The Installation

Indoor Mitsubishi ductless AC installed in Roslindale home.Cooling a home with window ACs is an expensive solution that often leaves hot and cold spots throughout the space. That was just one of the reasons that this family decided to find a new AC system that would reduce their monthly bills and keep them comfortable.

After reading some of our reviews from previous customers with similar problems, the homeowners decided to give N.E.T.R., Inc. a call. We knew that our status as a  Mitsubishi Diamond Elite Contractor would allow us to offer extended warranties and ensure the homeowner’s confidence in our technician’s training and capabilities. Because Mitsubishi holds this status in high regard, only a few contractors are diligent enough to earn the title.

When the family called, Jimmy Smithell went to meet them and assess the space. He recommended a single Mitsubishi ductless AC unit with an outdoor condenser to solve the cooling problem in the office. This system would be easy to install, provide an energy-efficient solution, and give the family the option to expand in the future.

The single indoor AC unit was installed in the study, on the wall, and then tubing was piped to the outdoor air condenser. Jimmy ran twenty-five feet of tubing through the walls like electrical wiring to connect the indoor AC to the outdoor unit. This tubing allows the air to travel from outside the home to the office without the need for extensive ductwork.

The Benefits

The Mitsubishi ductless AC system is a great option for this family. This ductless installation will allow the family excellent air conditioning for their office space without major construction. They will be able to control the comfort of the room with pinpoint accuracy.

The Mitsubishi ductless unit is controlled with a remote, so the owner can make adjustments from their desk, without interrupting their work. Another benefit of the ductless system is that it is whisper-quiet. Now, the owner won’t have to listen to a noisy AC unit all summer, instead, they can take conference calls without any background noise.

The outdoor condenser unit is built to supply up to five indoor ACs. If the family ever needs to expand its system to the kitchen, living room, or bedrooms, they only need to call N.E.T.R., Inc.

Additionally, the Mitsubishi ductless units function as high-quality heat pumps. Now, if the office is chilly in the winter, the owner can turn on the new system and enjoy a touch of heat. This option on the new system will help to reduce their oil heating bills by supplementing the existing system.

Outdoor condenser unit for Mitsubishi ductless heating and cooling system. These Mitsubishi ductless air conditioning systems are incredibly energy efficient. This efficiency allows the family to enjoy high-quality comfort without spending a fortune. In the summer, they’ll notice a significant drop in their energy bills compared to previous years. This change is due to the inefficiency of window ACs, which often are not sealed properly and allow treated air to escape easily.

The new unit can even be turned off when not in use to save even more money. Now, the family can make the office the ideal temperature every day and stop overspending to heat and cool the room when it is not being used.

100-Year Old Winchester Tudor Upgrades to Ductless AC

Tudor home in Winchester, MA, gets Mitsubishi ductless system. The owners of this gorgeous 100-year old Tudor home in Winchester were in need of a heating and cooling solution for multiple rooms. The couple were empty-nesters and didn’t use some of the rooms in their large house, but they needed an efficient heating and cooling system for the rooms they were regularly using.

The home had no existing ductwork, which is a common problem with homes built in the early 1900s. Ductwork and central HVAC systems were not standard until much later in the century, so many homes built during this time period have problems with heating and cooling.

One of the issues that many homeowners face with houses like this one is that ductwork can be expensive to install and requires massive renovations that can harm the antiquated beauty of the home. The owners knew that they wanted to preserve the turn-of-the-century charm of this Tudor, so they needed a heating and cooling option that wouldn’t require extensive reconstruction.

A temporary solution that they found was the use of window AC units. However, they quickly discovered the many drawbacks to relying solely on window air conditioners. These kinds of ACs are inefficient and require a lot of time to install and uninstall each year. Additionally, they only do a moderate job of keeping a room cooled and often leave hot and cold spots throughout the home.

Another dilemma was that the window units did not provide any heating for the home in the winter. Instead, they were left to depend on space heaters, which are dangerous and inefficient.

All in all, the owners knew it was time for a drastic change. They needed an option that would be efficient, cost-effective, and provide both heating and cooling in a design that wouldn’t take away from the home’s charm.

The Problem: 100-year old Tudor in Winchester, MA, had no central HVAC system and relied on window AC for cooling. The homeowners needed an upgrade that would provide heating and cooling without interfering with the home’s turn-of-the-century appeal.

The Solution: N.E.T.R., Inc. designed a six-unit ductless system with four indoor ductless ACs and two outdoor condensers. Now the living room, dining room, kitchen, and master bedroom will be comfortable all year long.

Example of indoor ductless AC wall unit installed in Winchester home. The Installation

The need for a heating and cooling solution was just as important as preserving the historical beauty of the house. They knew that a standard, central AC system was not an option because installing ductwork would interfere with the home’s aesthetic.

After researching their options, the owners decided that they were interested in ductless heating and cooling. This decision led them to N.E.T.R., Inc. They read reviews from our previous customers in the area who loved their ductless system and the professionalism provided by N.E.T.R., Inc., and they decided to contact us about a ductless installation.

Chip Moeckel, the project manager for this installation, met with the family and toured the home. Immediately, he knew they would need two outdoor condensers to supply the indoor units, due to the location of the rooms needing AC and the size of the home.

Example of a floor-mounted ductless AC unit in MA home. Ductless AC mounted above the doorway in Winchester, MA.Chip proposed a six-unit design that would provide heating and cooling to the kitchen, dining room, master bedroom, and living room. The indoor units were designed to be slim and easily blend into the home.

The living room, kitchen, and bedroom all had a wall-mounted ductless AC unit installed. These wall units allow for optimal airflow throughout the room, which provides higher quality heating and cooling throughout the year. In the dining room, Chip and the owners agreed that a floor-mounted ductless unit would be a better fit in the space, so it was installed instead of a wall AC.

All of the units take up minimal wall space, allowing for powerful temperature control without compromising the aesthetics of the room. Chip and his team were able to place each unit in a position that will provide the best airflow throughout the room, so the family will never have to worry about hot and cold spots again.

Additionally, the ductless system requires only a thin tubing to be snaked through the walls, instead of extensive ductwork. This tubing is similar to electrical wire and connects the indoor ACs to the outdoor heat pump. Treated air is then pumped from the outdoor condenser unit through the tubing to the indoor units.

The outdoor heat pumps were installed in two locations because of the size of the house and the distance between the indoor units. The master bedroom and living room were connected to the outdoor condenser that was installed on the left side of the home. The kitchen and dining room’s units were then attached to the condenser on the right side of the house. Both heat pumps are out of the way but easy to reach for maintenance and repairs.

Benefits of Ductless

This ductless system will allow for pinpoint control of their home through the use of the remote control. Each unit operates on an individual thermostat, so they will be able to set the rooms to different temperatures without putting stress on a central system. If the couple ever decides to expand their system, they can easily install a unit in a spare bedroom and only heat or cool the room when the kids come home to visit.

Another feature Chip recommended is pairing the system with the Kumo Cloud Station. This app allows the homeowners to control the temperature settings of their Mitsubishi ductless AC system from anywhere! They simply download an app on their smartphones, and they instantly have access to their home’s unique system no matter where they go.

One of the benefits of choosing a ductless system is its energy-efficiency. The ductless units are so energy-efficient, they only require around the same electricity as a light bulb, the couple is going to save big on their energy bills. Chip knew that upgrading the window ACs to the ductless system would qualify this couple for energy-efficiency rebates, and, with his help, they were about to receive $3,757 back!

Arlington Homeowners Get Massive Rebate on Ductless Mini Split AC System

Needham, MA, ranch home gets Mitsubishi ductless system.

The summers in Arlington, MA, can range in temperature from mild to sweltering. This leaves some families struggling to stay comfortable all summer long.

One Arlington family had the additional problem of not having a central air conditioning system built in. This left them fighting the heat with window AC units. They were loud, inefficient, and covered the home’s windows all summer long. They even caused the family to accumulate massive energy bills over the summer.

These homeowners were forced to reinstall the AC units every summer and store them each winter. Eventually, they had enough and decided that window air conditioners were not a suitable long-term solution.

Problem: The hot summers in Arlington, MA, left this family to depend on window ACs to stay cool. The window units were inefficient, expensive, and too loud to be an adequate solution.

Solution: N.E.T.R., Inc. installed a multi-zoned ductless mini split AC system with five indoor wall-mounted ductless AC units and an outdoor condenser.

Multi-Zoned Mitsubishi Ductless Mini Split AC System

Example of an indoor wall ductless ACWhen the family decided they were ready for an upgrade, they researched potential options and found N.E.T.R. Inc.’s customer reviews. They knew our experts would be able to design the perfect ductless mini-split AC system system for their home.

N.E.T.R., Inc. holds the status of #1 Elite Diamond Dealer for Mitsubishi ductless in Boston and the surrounding areas. This status allows our experts to offer extended warranties and premium service to our customers.

For this install, Jimmy Smithell was the project manager who met with the homeowners to discuss their options. He suggested installing a multi-zone mini split ductless system that would allow pinpoint control of the temperature in every room.

The Install

Indoor ductless AC installed in Arlington homeThe zoned ductless mini-split air conditioning system allowed Jimmy and his team to install five separate indoor air conditioners in various rooms. Two units were installed in bedrooms, a third was mounted in the family room, and the final two went into the attic.

These ductless ACs were all connected to the outdoor condenser via thin tubing run through the walls. This tubing allowed the units to be installed without invasive construction and maintained the home’s aesthetic. The wall mounted units optimized airflow and created a better cooling experience.

Each of the ductless units is controlled independently from one another. This allows for individualized comfort in every room. They can keep the family room cool while their bedroom stays warm. Unlike traditional central heating and air, ductless AC units are controlled by individual thermostats instead of a single home unit.

The family wanted to control their home’s ductless mini split AC system from anywhere, so Jimmy installed a Kumo Cloud system. The Kumo Cloud systems allow the owners to access their home’s Mitsubishi ductless units through a smartphone app. They can adjust the temperature of their home from any location.

Ductless Benefits

Arlington home upgrades from window ACs to ductless ACsThis family’s AC units were not only inefficient at cooling the home, they racked up expensive energy bills during the summer. The new ductless mini split AC system will create significant savings on the family’s monthly bills. These savings come from the energy-efficient technology in the units and the ability to individually cool only the rooms in use.

Installing Integrated Controls on this ductless system allows it to pair with the existing system to heat and cool the home efficiently. By integrating the two systems, these homeowners will get improved temperature control in the coldest months and reduce their fuel consumption.

Integrated Control allows the home heating to switch between the existing system and the ductless units based on the temperature outside. This saves fuel by allowing the ductless system to handle heating and cooling the home on most days. When temperatures hit extremes, it can switch to the traditional system.

Outdoor condenser unit with heat pumpAnother benefit that these homeowners received was through the Mass Save rebate program for energy-efficient AC upgrades. Because of the installation of integrated controls, this family qualified for a rebate of $5,600.

The Generous Fuel Optimization rebate is provided to homeowners for upgrades that reduce fuel emissions. Just by upgrading their window AC units to more energy-efficient technology, this family cut the costs of their ductless installation.

These ductless units will double as high-quality heat pumps in the winter. If the family finds their furnace is not their home warm enough, they can turn on the ductless unit.

Charlestown Condo Finds Relief with Mitsubishi Ductless Mini-Split

Condo in Charlestown gets Mitsubishi mini splitThe owner of this condo in Charlestown, MA loved the location of their home but found several issues with the heating and air conditioning. The condo’s electric heating system did a decent job of keeping the owner comfortable in the winter, but they were still experiencing hot and cold spots in the 500 square foot space.

Another problem that arose with the home was the lack of air conditioning. Summers in Charlestown can get very hot, and this owner did not want to have to resort to window ACs to stay cool. Window ACs are a solution used by many homeowners in the area, but they are inefficient and often cost a fortune to run.

This owner knew it was time to find a more permanent solution.

The Problem: A condo in Charlestown, MA had no central AC and was heated with electric heat, which left the owner with hot and cold spots throughout the home. The home’s lack of AC meant this owner would have to rely on window ACs and fans unless they found a better solution.

The Solution: N.E.T.R., Inc. designed a Mitsubishi ductless mini-split heating and air conditioning system for year-round comfort. The entire system consisted of two indoor wall-mounted AC units and a single outdoor heat pump.

Mitsubishi Ductless Mini-Splits

Example of indoor ductless mini split unit. After researching some options, this owner found N.E.T.R., Inc. and read some of our many online reviews written by customers near them. They discovered that our status as the #1 Elite Diamond Dealer for Mitsubishi in Boston and the surrounding areas would allow more exceptional customer service and satisfaction. N.E.T.R., Inc. can offer our customers extended warranties for up to 12 years thanks to this special status.

After meeting with the owner, Jimmy Smithell, the project manager, knew that a three-unit ductless design would work the best for this condo. He knew that the Mitsubishi ductless units offer both heating and cooling capabilities, allowing our customer to get the year-round comfort they craved with a single install.

The Install

After viewing the condo, Jimmy knew that he could give this owner year-round comfort with a simple, Mitsubishi mini-split ductless AC system. The two indoor units would be less expensive to operate than window ACs during the summer and will help to lower the heating bills in the winter by offering supplemental heat.

The first unit was installed in the kitchen/living space. It was mounted high on the wall to achieve maximum air distribution throughout the space. The second unit was placed in the master bedroom. Both indoor AC units then had thin tubing run through the walls like electrical wiring to the outdoor condenser unit, which was placed behind the home.

Each of the indoor AC units has its own thermostat so that the rooms can be adjusted individually. This feature will help to save the owner money on monthly bills by allowing them to customize the heating and cooling in these rooms. If one room is not in use, they can turn off the unit in that room and save even more.

Not only do these ductless AC unit offering heating and cooling, but they also monitor the humidity in the room. These Mitsubishi air conditioners adjust the air quality and humidity to provide the best comfort all year long.

Ductless Benefits

Charlestown condo upgrades to Mitsubishi ductless.Because these Mitsubishi ductless systems are built with energy-efficient technology, they take very little energy to run. This design results in lower energy bills, even when the system is being used for supplemental heating and cooling purposes.

In this case, the owner will see a significant drop in their energy bills during the summer and additional savings in the winter. By using the ductless units as supplemental heating for their existing electric heating, they will avoid having to use dangerous space heaters to get that extra touch of warmth on unusually cold days.

Additional savings were found for this owner by applying for rebates. The Mass Save programs offer rebates for environmentally friendly upgrades. N.E.T.R., Inc. assisted this owner in applying for $1,500 in rebates to help reduce the overall cost of the installation. Now, they’ll see monthly savings and be able to enjoy their condo at the perfect temperature all year, without worrying about the expense.

Another great benefit to the ductless system is that it is a long-term investment in the condo that will help increase its value over time. This way, when the owner is ready to sell, the value of the home has increased due to the updated system.
