This local brewery needed a walk-in cooler system for their business to keep their product fresh. The business owners purchased a walk-in cooler system from Bush and built the box for the unit on their own.
After the initial installation, they realized that the process of installing the remaining equipment was more than they could handle. Immediately, the owners began looking for a contractor to install the refrigeration equipment for their brewery.
After reading many reviews from previous customers of N.E.T.R., Inc., the owners of Winter Hill Brewery knew that we would be able to install their commercial cooler. They contacted Mike Herrick at N.E.T.R., Inc., and he went out to the brewery right away.
The Problem: This local brewery in Somerville, MA, had purchased all the equipment they needed for installing a walk-in cooler. However, they needed a professional to install it.
The Solution: N.E.T.R., Inc. solved this local business’s problems by installing a walk-in cooler, lighting, and the condenser unit on the roof of the building.
After meeting with the business owners and touring the facility, Mike knew that he and his team could make this installation quick and painless for the owners. He informed the owners that the condenser unit would need to be installed on the building’s roof, which would require a crane.
He would also need to install the proper piping for the cooler and the evaporator. They would need to coordinate the installation of a roof rack from Cummings Properties and install the appropriate oil trap for the system.
After his initial assessment, Mike knew that N.E.T.R., Inc. could help this local business. His team would get this system running for this brewery quickly and efficiently so that they can focus on their customers and offer a high-quality experience to everyone who stops in for a drink and a delicious meal.
The first thing that needed to be installed for this system was the roof condenser unit to supply the treated air to the cooler. N.E.T.R., Inc. provided the crane, and Winter Hill Brewery supplied the TS050 5HP 404A medium temperature condenser. The crane was used to hoist the condenser for the cooler up to the roof, where it was mounted. N.E.T.R., Inc. also supplied the rigging needed to install the unit on the roof.
The store owners had already purchased the two evaporator units with 115-volt EC motors, which had to be installed according to precise guidelines. N.E.T.R., Inc. made sure that these evaporators were placed correctly and installed. They also supplied the 7/8th suction line needed for the oil trap at the evaporator, all the refrigeration piping from the evaporator to the condenser on the roof, and the drain line.
All of the suction line piping had to be insulated with Armaflex insulation, which will protect it from damage during the winter. This step is especially important during the harsh winters in Massachusetts.
N.E.T.R., Inc., then had to size the refrigerant piping to connect the roof-mounted condenser unit to the indoor walk-in cooler. The piping was then run inside the cooler to the two evaporators and all the proper braze connections.
All of the drain connections were routed to existing drains or ones installed by a plumber for this job. The owners had also purchased two solenoid valves and solenoid coils, which N.E.T.R., Inc. piped to the mounted TXV’s.
Mike and his team provided all of the electrical work that pertained to the walk-in cooler. They hooked up the lighting and ran all the wiring from the condenser unit on the roof to the evaporators coils to the electrical panel. This installation also included adding a new breaker to the panel sized correctly for the walk-in cooler and could handle all the installed refrigeration equipment.
After ensuring that all the electrical wiring was installed according to the manufacturer’s recommendations, Mike started the refrigeration system for a test run. Everything sprang to life just as it should, and the new walk-in cooler was ready to be stocked.
The brewery now has a spacious cooler that will allow them to increase the shelf-life of their products. The refrigeration system was essential for this business, and N.E.T.R., Inc. was the right pick for the job.
Now, the store owners can rest assured that their supplies for the kitchen are kept in safe temperatures, and they can also keep their beers chilled and ready to serve.
